Sanremo: Glimpse of piazza Colombo seen from via Palazzo

What we know today as via Palazzo, a street which runs parallel to corso Matteotti, but is more internal and near to the old city , was once known as the roman road Julia Augusta. The street dates back to approximately two thousand years ago and in the medieval era, the first dwellings were developed.
Via Palazzo starts from piazza Eroi and ends in piazza Colombo: to walk along it means to cross through the history of the city, among ancient buildings, kiosks and small side streets which lead to the Pigna the ancient city. Via Palazzo is known for its shops, perhaps less chic than those in nearby corso Matteotti, but certainly more lively and popular. Here it is possible to find some of the eno-gastronomic products which are typical of the city and to visit some of the oldest shops.
