Sanremo was a muse of many artists of the last century, Among these August Alfred Noack, or as he was called in Italy: Augusto Alfredo. Noack was a famous German photographer, considered as the pioneer of photography.
The artist buried in Genoa, took took some photos also in Sanremo. One of the most famous is that of the old port, where some ladies in costumes were immortalized. In reality no bikinis or bathing costumes, but the wives of fishermen on the quay of the port, which today is still considered as the centre for fishing and above all for the prawns of Sanremo.
