Porto di Sanremo: Ladies among the sailing ships, 1904

The ancient port of Sanremo, also called the "old port" is a witness to the true passion which joins the city to the sea. Up to 1800 this port was the main resourse of the city equally for fishing and for the arrival and exchange of goods. Over the course of the years it has changed, but always remained packed with boats and vessels. Currently the old port has a capability of more than 400 boat mooring berths , many of which are reserved for fishing boats.
Still today, at dawn, you can find the fishermen selling their fresh fish on the quayside. The famous prawns of Sanremo will certainly be there. A few hundred metres further down is the Porto Sole, the new and modern tourist port of the city.
